BRITISH Balls would like to make an apology. A couple of months ago, we predicted that England wouldn't even break sweat beating an abysmal West Indies team on their own turf, even though Kevin Pietersen's head had just exploded in a shower of ego, half the team were eyeing up the millions on offer in India and the fact that we were talking about England - which is usually enough on its own for us not to make rash predictions based on common sense.

ENGLAND ended their winter of discontent by somehow managing to win their one-day series in the West Indies 3-2 by picking up victories due to the opposition coach's inability to read, a lucky rain break giving them a piss easy target and finally due to the heroics of Andrew Flintoff who took 5-19 - including the third hat-trick by an England bowler in ODIs - in the St Lucia decider.
