We're back this week with the best in new music, and first up is M.I.A's Bad Girls. Back on the scene with upcoming collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Madonna, we're excited to see what M.I.A's got in store for 2012.
Jack White’s debut solo single ‘Love Interruption’ is, well just simply awesome, go make sure you give that a good listen. Bonobos tune ‘The Keeper’ is worth a listen to for its smooth jazz sound and we're still loving Chiddy Bang’s hit ‘Ray Charles’, although it has been lurking around for a while.
Also an honourable mention to check out Mayer Hawthorn’s video for his single ‘Your Easy Lovin Ain Pleasin Nothing’ as the video was filmed in just one take! We also have Swayze Feat Adele ‘I Won’t Go’, Zammuto ‘ F U C-3PO’, Django Django ‘Default’ and James Vincent McMorrow ‘If I Had A Boat’; a pretty mouth-watering selection for this week as promised!

Armed with their slanted pop treasures, Aleks and The Ramps will be zigzagging their way to Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, Byron Bay, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart.

Grammy-nominated Paul van Dyk is without question one of the biggest electronic dance music artists in the world today with a rich and legendary history stretching back to the early 90's. He has proven himself to be an unstoppable force consistently finishing in the Top 5 in most major DJ magazine polls.
Now after a 5 year absence, Australian trance fans are eagerly awaiting his return to Australian shores especially following the news that he will be presenting his very own Evolution arena. He debuted his new Evolution show, in the Sahara Tent at Coachella in April and the integrated audio-visual show was the result of intensive development.
In an interview with Chinashop he explained "Over the last few years, individual live production became more and more important in the touring circle, and I was looking into what was going on. There are quite a lot of impressive screens, but I realized that there's no real creative input on those screens. This is when I reached out to the people who are pretty much fucking amazing at what they do and I explained what my aim is and where I wanted to go. The new album is called Evolution, so we'd sit together and have hours and hours of conversation about all these different paths that evolution takes. Ollie Metcalfe, who I'm working with, is not just a video designer. He's a light designer and a stage designer. He does all that together. Therefore it always feels together, and the light design features the visual design, and the stage design is incorporated with the video and lights. It's all quite complex, but it's really exciting".
PVD's new album 'Evolution' has been confirmed for release in March 2012, just in time for Future Music Festival. His first studio album since 2007's 'In Between' and his first full length offering since 2008's 'The Best Of Paul van Dyk' the new record will feature 16 tracks in total. Paul van Dyk said that "Evolution" is an album that demonstrates my personal evolution as an artist. My advisors are saying it's the best music I've done."
Accompanying PVD is an all-star cast including Garuda's Gareth Emery, voted no.7 in the worlds Top 100 DJ's in 2010; Emery is the youngest DJs ever to crack the top ten. John O'Callaghan is a fully fledged member of the DJ elite, a masterful spinner, his high-octane trance mix coupled with a much-honed precision mixing style has seen him surge up through the DJ ranks. Orjan Nilsen is without a doubt one of trance's brightest young stars having skyrocketed to worldwide acclaim for both his production work and also his ability to get the crowd fired up, playing a variation of the more chunky and groovy trance music, with big influences from tech-house and techno

Single Review: SBTRKT, 'BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Session'
London-based electronic musician SBTRKT (pronounced Subtract) has seen his stock rise considerably in the last year or so. With an acclaimed self-titled LP release and some high profile remixing work for the likes of M.I.A. and Radiohead, the enigmatic man behind the mask has really been a busy beaver. Recently he and partner in crime Sampha took some time out to record two tracks for a live session with the BBC in their native England.
The BBC Radio One Live Lounge session the duo recorded with Annie Mac includes an extended version of the minor hit ‘Hold On' from his self-titled LP, and a cover of the Friendly Fires' ‘Blue Cassette'. For fans of the original, the version of ‘Hold On' is worth seeking out, if only for its extended instrumental section at the end. SBTRKT's propulsive beats and rhythms set him apart from many of his more minimalistic contemporaries, but he is not averse to using slow-building sonics either. But like the music itself, it is purely a matter of taste as to whether you find the mournful vocals of Sampha a perfect complement to the music or overwrought and grating.
SBTRKT's choice of Friendly Fires ‘Blue Cassette' to cover is perhaps not much of a surprise given the knowledge that they have recently toured together and that Fires' Ed Macfarlane is busy working in the studio with SBTRKT on his sophomore LP. The cover is perhaps not quite the equal of the original, but will no doubt please the already converted and maybe earn him a few more admirers to his growing army.
