Cat Sniffing Tests Smell Like Bull

Cat Sniffing Tests Smell Like BullA New York Federal Judge has banned Clorox Pet Products Co. from airing their TV ad for cat litter.

The ad claims that a smell test proves that their product is much better than rival Church & Dwight Co. Inc.'s Arm & Hammer brand.

The judge said that he found it "highly implausible" that 11 panelists would "stick their noses in jars of excrement and report 44 independent times that they smelled nothing unpleasant." He added that he believed the claims to be "literally false."

Oakland, California based Clorox has expressed disappointment in Tuesday's ruling. It says it defends the ad's truthfulness.
Princeton, New Jersey based Church & Dwight have made no comment.

My response to the judge would be that you'd be surprised at what some people would do for money. Litter sniffing is nothing.

British Driver Jailed For Ringing Car to Conceal Car Park Scrape

British Driver Jailed For Ringing Car to Conceal Car Park ScrapeA wealthy, middle-class British man has been jailed for six months after going to extraordinary lengths to conceal a minor accident in a car park.

After discovering that his MOT certificate had expired, Jonathan Lailey, 42, denied that he was the driver of the Alfa Romeo that scraped the bumper of another car in Princesshay Car Park, Exeter in June 2011.

Having been caught on CCTV, Lailey then decided that the best course of action would be to swap the license plate of his car with that of an identical model he also owned and re-register it with the DVLA.

He then unscrewed and changed the vehicle identification number plates in the boots of both cars, while covering the plate underneath the driver's seat, which he couldn't prize off, with tar.

Lailey then forged papers to show that he had sold the offending car to a Polish man living in Bristol days before the accident after copying his name and address from a small ad in a local paper.

When the police later came round to call, Lailey, confident in his deception, hid behind the curtains. Not put off by his cunning, the police put a trail on Lailey's Alfa Romeo and when they pulled him over a few months after the accident, he broke down and confessed everything.

Bemused by the case before him, Judge Phillip Wassall told Lailey this week, "I find myself approaching a state of desperation thinking about this case." A position, it is safe to say, shared by us all...

Man survives in snow-covered car for 2 months

Man_survivesA Swedish man is thought to have survived on nothing but snow for two months.
The man was rescued from a snowed-in car by a snow-scooter rider near Umeaa, north Sweden, - and when police arrived they were "amazed" the man had survived in temperatures as low as -30C.
Ebbe Nyberg, a duty officer in the northern Vaesterbotten county, said: "He saw movement and realised there was probably a person in there and called the police.
"They were amazed at what they found: A man in his mid-40s huddled inside in a sleeping bag in really bad shape, starving and barely able to move or speak."
Following the rescue, the man was rushed to hospital and his current condition is unknown.

According to the ANSA news agency, the two men - who police think were carrying a fake weapon - also hit out at the country's economic crisis.
They managed to escape after locking up people visiting the bank in a room.

Couple marry in supermarket

Couple_marry_supermarketA US couple have got married in their local supermarket.
The pair - Wayne and Susan Brandenburg - met at their local Walmart in North Carolina and they decided it would be fitting to tie the knot in the same place.
Wayne told WECT-TV: "She was a cashier at the time.
"I kept coming through and seeing her ... my (former) wife died seven years ago, and I asked (Susan) out. For some reason, she said yes and it went from there."
