FRUSTRATED COMEDIAN BALOTELLI TRIES TO CRACK AMERICA WITH “COMEDY” APPROACH

BALOTELLIItalian bad boy Mario Balotelli took time out during Manchester City's clash with LA Galaxy to show the world a new brand of comedy attacking play. The 20-year-old was clear on goal but, instead of shooting, donned clown shoes and opted to drag the ball back before backheeling it wide instead.

Roberto Mancini knew that when he signed Balotelli - it was always going to be a gamble, but after seeing the action, he promptly subbed him off. "We exchanged words in Italian" said Mancini, "but it is hard to translate what we said into English". A solid source has informed BBM that it was something about "timing" and "knowing his audience".

"I just wanted to try something different, people need a laugh, but I think American fans just didn't get it. The guys loved the one I did with the dart and the youth player." Balotelli said. "Football is not all about scoring goals - people need to understand this".

City earned a third victory on their pre-season tour of the United States, winning the game 7-6 on penalties after it had finished 1-1, but the match was overshadowed by Balotelli's actions, which prompted jeers from the crowd at the Home Depot Center.

t’s (Try)ing Nations Time

Trophy_RWC2011_WorldCup_NZWith just seven weeks to go before we will be resetting our alarm clocks and heading to the pubs at unsociable (or sociable depending on your disposition at 4am) times for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, this weekend sees the Tri-Nations series get underway in Sydney.

So what will we learn about the three frontrunners (sorry Northern hemisphere fans but the facts don't lie) to claim the Webb Ellis trophy? Well on the face of it, it seems perhaps not too much.

With the Springboks sending a weakened side on tour (and despite Peter de Villiers management rhetoric to the contrary, 23 players missing is not a full side!) and their Antipodean rivals likely to keep the powder dry on a couple of their secret weapons (does Sonny Bill Williams count as a secret anymore?!), you would be forgiven for thinking that the tournament is a waste of everyone's time.

However, this will be the perfect opportunity for one or two ‘bolters' to appear from nowhere, grab a World Cup spot and prove their mettle on the world stage.

As for the rest of the world, they will be hoping for injuries and fatigue to boost their slim chances at scooping rugby's ultimate prize come October time.

Blaming The Box

Sadly, Andy Murray has vowed to keep his temper in check for this year's Wimbledon, where he hopes to end Britain's men's singles title drought that's lasted 75 years.

Murray (pictured) is Known for his outbursts, including one that cost Great Britain a fine when he was only 18 years of age, Murray acknowledged that it's an area of his game that needs improvement.

"I think I'm getting better. At Queen's a week ago, I did it very well and at the French Open I was better, so I think I'm improving. A lot of times people think if I shout something in the direction of the (competitor's) box, then I'm shouting at them, but if you listen, a lot of the time I'm just getting upset at myself."

Trust us Andy, BBM knows you can't always blame it on the box.

On The T

Not only did Rory McIlroy win the U.S. Open at 22 years of age, he did so in a world record setting score of 16-under-par through 72 holes, leading second place by eight shots. He wasn't done, however.

Giving British golf fans yet another reason to boast, McIlroy has jumped from fourth to third place in the world rankings without even taking a shot.

Perhaps credit is due to former third-place, Martin Kaymer, whose flop at the BMW International in Munich allowed Rory's advancement.

This means British golfers occupy the top three rankings, for the first time in history. England's Luke Donald holds the top position with Lee Westwood securing second place.

The young McIlroy looks to have plenty of promise. Here's to hoping for Britain's version of Tiger Woods, minus the blackbook.
