The purple-nosed Scotch pensioner decided to go for a classic dig to kick things off, reprising the much-loved “Evra race row” debate and claiming it was the main reason Kenny Dalglish was sacked.?”I wasn’t surprised at Kenny leaving,” he tartaned. “Their owner, John Henry, has obviously looked at that (incident) and felt it wasn’t handled in the right way. At the time of going to print, Fulham were still trying to keep hold of the midfielder – but that didn’t stop Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports, claiming on their website that the deal was done.?An article titled “Liverpool gear up for North American Tour as Clint Dempsey joins club” had to be swiftly removed as Liverpool fans across the world logged on for details of the deal.

As the news began to spread, furious Fulham were forced to issue a statement confirming Dempsey was not on his way to Anfield. ?”‘It is totally not true. We have not received any bids,” said a Fulham spokesman. ?Great to see nothing much has changed at Anfield. And we haven’t even mentioned Andy Carroll…
