It was the battle of the debt in the 2nd quarter final as Greece took on Germany, who they blamed for their recent debt crisis so it was extra emphasis to kick their asses through the power of the Greek gods; But as you may have guessed that never happened as the Germans thrashed the Greeks 4-2.
Captain Phillip Lahm put Germany ahead with a stunner from 25 yards out, before Greece equalised through Giorgos Samaras, the worst player to actually get through to the quarter finals let alone a national team. After that the Greeks had hope of an upset, could the gods intervene? Nope the Germans scored a god like goal as Sami Khedira scored a rifled effort to break the net and after that Miroslav Klose scored an easy header as the Germans were running riots, ending with winger Marco Reus smashing home a fourth goal to finish off the Greeks. But they had the last laugh as striker Dimitris Salpingidis scored a late penalty consolation.
So the Germans are through to face England or Italy. Will it be another Italia 90, or a South Africa 2010? Either way England’s prospects look a little worse. THANKS GREECE!
