A 27-year-old woman has fallen in love with the Statue of Liberty. We all get a little lonely from time to time, and in desperation some of us might turn to online dating. But Amanda Whittaker has taken drastic action with her long distance lover.
She has covered her Leeds home in memorabilia related to the statue and has said that she has even considered marrying the statue. “She is my long-distance lover and I am blown away by how stunning she is.” She said, “Other people might be shocked to think I have romantic feelings for an object, but they are not the same as me.” The shop assistant has visited the statue four times, and admits to caressing it and leaning out the window to kiss its hair. The monument is the most recent in a string of objects Amanda has fallen in love with. She admits that, during her teens, she had a passionate relationship with a drumkit. You couldn’t make it up!
