Bjork saying ‘Pussy Riot’ is bloody great.

Bjork‘Declare Independence' is fierce track of Bjork's, one that screams for brash and riotous behaviour. Originally written regarding the ruling of the Faroe Islands and Greenland by Denmark, Bjork has dedicated the song to many a suffering, political cause. Last night, at her concert in Helsinki, Finland, she announced the Russian girls of the feminist punk rock band ‘Pussy Riot' were deserving of her support by screaming "POOSEE RYYOT' in a shrill manner, which was received by rapturous applause from the crowd. Launching herself into the song, she whole-heartedly screams ‘justice!' and ‘declare independence' over the angry bassline which progressively becomes more threatening, until the end when all her dancers on stage look like mentally deranged puppets in all their dancing efforts.

The Pussy Riot girls, who unleashed an Anti-Putin protest by crashing into the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, are being held to trial because of their outburst. It was reminiscent of Sex-Pistol attitude and sent nuns failing around in distress, and left President Putin a tad irritated.

Naturally this just the kind of thing our beloved Bjork fights for, freedom of speech against higher controlling powers, with stirring, heavy music. As the song draws to its end, she reveals her want to sing with the Pussy Riot girls on stage, which is positively the best result to come from this whole scenario. Lighten up Putin, and let them out of prison. We don't want to wait too long for our Bjork feat. Pussy Riot track to be released!

Check out I predict a pussy riot!
