Rainforest Trekking

a waterfall in a fiji rainforestUnlike say in northern Australia, where you may be unfortunate enough to be bitten in
half by a 20ft croc, Fiji's rainforests are unique in that they have no harmful, horrible
bastards hiding in the lush green environment.
So you can wander around the serenely beautiful landscapes in virtual safety, checking
out Fiji's tiny wild parrots and eyeing the extravagant-looking birds. Sounds good to us.
Now you may find some parts of the forests as thick and impenetrable as Jade Goody's
brain, but there are plenty of pathways marked out and used by the Fijians so there's no
need to worry on that score.
As the islands are often mountainous and undulating, there are heaps of crystal clear
streams and waterfalls - the most famous of which is arguably the sacred Bouma Falls, in
the National Heritage Park on the island of Taveuni (to the north east of Viti Levu).
That appeared in the 1991 film ‘Return to the Blue Lagoon', which starred Russian
Resident Evil bitch Milla Jovovich, and is probably the most popular in Fiji, attracting
thousands of visitors each year.
But there are several other top rainforest sites, including around the coastal areas of Viti
Levu, so there's no excuse not to take a little walk round them, you lazy gits.
