Go Shopping in Sydney

If you don't mind the hustle and bustle and want the best of both High Street and Designer then head into Central Sydney. That's where the most in-demand shops and malls can be found along Pitt Street and George Street. Hidden amongst the sea of modern-day retail are the little gems that have been there long before you and I were born such as The Strand Arcade, that was originally built in 1892 and has an array of shops within its ornate Victorian building.

More of a browser and like to have a wander - but aren't necessarily looking for anything in particular then Oxford Street is perfect for you. It begins in the CBD and carries on up through Darlinghurst and Paddington. Along the way there is everything you could dream of from kitsch nik-naks and vintage fashion to bondage-wear and bookshops.

Wanting more of a glacial meander and prefer a relaxed stroll around an Aussie market then head to The Rocks Market. Located in historical surroundings, The Rocks Market oozes charm and character. It boasts an array of stalls including antiques, clothing, art, food and souvenirs. The Weekend Market is 10am - 5pm, Saturday and Sunday and is open come rain or shine and The Foodies Market is 10am - 4pm every Friday. Making it a worthwhile visit.

For those of you heading down to the harbour, there is nowhere better than Darling Harbour. Any grumpy partners that are reluctant to shop can be plonked on a bench over looking the harbour whilst you shop in peace and quiet.
If you're a bargain hunter at heart then head straight to Paddy's Market. It's a huge indoor market that has been around for years. It houses pretty much everything, you name it they have it. On the weekend it can be a bit of a squish but it's worth it to haggle for a bargain. It is open Wednesday to Saturday and is just off Thomas Street in the southern end of the city in Haymarket.

For designer lovers be sure to pop into Westfield and the surrounding areas such as King, Elizabeth and Castlereagh streets and around Martin Place. There you'll get your Gucci, Chanel, Prada and any other high-end fix you can think of. And if you can't afford it, don't worry just go window-shopping and try it all on for size.
