Travel Perisher Valley

perisher blue picture

Perisher Valley is the home of the Perisher Ski Resort. A real skier's paradise, 1250 hectares of snow-covered terrain encompassing 100km+ of cross-country trails.

Located 500 kilometres south of Sydney in the Snowy Mountains, Perisher Valley is not what you would generally expect from Australia, snow has been recorded in all months and their ski season runs from June till October.

The best time to go is during the always popular Snowy Mountains of Music Festival in June which runs for four days and kicks off the ski season in style.

The festival, which spans ten different venues, delivers a mix of folk, world and traditional music hosted by David De Santi, member of one of Australia's most famous bush bands, Wongawilli.

The line-up for this year including The Black Seeds, The Mouldy Lovers and of course Wongawilli.

The accommodation is very varied in terms of budget but there is defiantly something to suit everyone, with special deals if you book early or include the festival in you booking.

One of these offers is at Corroboree Lodge which offers three nights, with breakfast and entrance to the Snowy Mountains of Music festival for $325 or tickets can be purchased for the festival separately at $45 for the evening or $125 for the weekend.

In summer months, the mountains attract a large number of tourists who come to enjoy white-water rafting, abseiling and climbing, horse-riding and fishing on the nearby Lakes Jindabyne and Eucumbene which are extremely popular for canoeing and water-skiing, with the Australian Water-skiing Championships held on Lake Jindabyne every year.
