There seems to be no stopping Beth Jeans Houghton’s rise through the upper echelons of indie-cool. She and her Hooves of Destiny are fast stealing the limelight with their brand of echoey indie/folk and Beth’s sexy, Courtney Love before-the-drugs-esque look. ‘Dodecahedron’ is taken from their recently released album ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose,’ and is notable for it’s beautiful, whimsical composition – oh, and Beth flashes her tits in the video too.
Mary Epworth also made it onto our stereo this week with her single ‘Black Doe,’ a glorious instrumental sound clash with a rousing drum and guitar drenched chorus that had us all banging our heads in time. Rusko, DJ Fresh and Canblaster have been keeping our creative juices flowing with their jump-up club tunes, while The 2 Bears have helped us to keep it funky with ‘Get Together.’ Jessie Ware, vocalist on SBTRKT’s ‘Nervous’ has been piquing our interest with her new solo effort ‘Strangest Feeling,’ as have Baltimore’s Dead Mellotron with ‘Stranger.’
Sun Kil Moon kept us calm as deadlines loomed with his country inspired, quietly infectious track ‘Sunshine in Chicago.’ Oh, and we’ve been reliving our raving days with Zeds Dead, ‘Undah Yuh Skirt’ Feat. Mavado – we challenge you to listen to it without wriggling maniacally in your seat and grinning like a stoned fifteen year-old. Jungle is, definitely, still massive.
