Australian Fielder Lost And Found At Australian Open

Amazing how many great cricket players Australia have had over the years. But I don’t remember any crossing the divide between Cricket and Tennis, until now. Footage from the Australian Open Semi-Final between Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer showed a ball boy performing a perfect catch when it is hit towards him midway through the match. Ricky Ponting, I think you’ve been shown up old boy!

14 year old Dylan Colaci was just innocently waiting for Federer to give him the ball after a faulty serve, but Dylan caught the ball outstretched with one hand perfectly before getting his game face back on; not without getting a standing ovation from the Australian crowd. Dylan said in an interview after the match “''I didn't have much time to think about it. I just stuck my hand out and the ball just stayed there. I couldn't believe it myself but then I just had to get straight on with the match.” Show off, I bet he practiced this with Federer before the match, just to get some 800,000 YouTube hits (which he did!).

Sadly for fans of Cricket AND Tennis, Dylan is interested in football more than any other sports at the moment. Looking at this evidence I think Australia have found their future goalkeeper at the next world cup, that’s if they qualify though!
